Lector REPORT

Ing. Radko LOUČKA, PhD. work is the author of "Herding dog - training handbook", issued by the Schoko, Brno in 2008. The publication has a range of 88 pages. The text is a series of schematic diagrams and pictorial Annex 16 successful methodological color photos.
Canine literature issued by us every year quite a lot. Prevail, however, often works of foreign authors focused primarily on the popular and broad characteristics of the breed of dogs. Growing interest in dog breeding entails the need for breeding new breeds. Not all breeds, however, have direct economic use and are bred for work and targeted assistance to man. Most breeds however, such use does not. Proof of this is that still a larger number of dogs are kept in large cities. Here, the function performs mostly social, or therapeutic.
However, many breeds of dogs bred to help man straight. In this respect, dogs were utilized since ancient times to hunt, and the grazing herds. The dog is at herding and currently indispensable breeder. The shepherds and herding dogs especially true.
To work with the herd to fit several breeds of dogs or even the origin of the long nepyšní or famous pedigree. That in fact it is not always decisive. It is also vital that the dog was trained to do the job well. To train a dog to work with the herd is not easy. It requires patience, especially from a breeder, determination, consistency, temperament serenity, love of animals and of course the knowledge of how to proceed in training. There's a lot to the dog must learn. There's a lot you should know a breeder.
For this reason it is very commendable that our leading expert on breeding and training sheepdogs Ing. Radko LOUČKA, PhD. summarized in the publication "Herding with your dog ..." his years of experience and knowledge. Their knowledge to formulate very readable form, in essence to "guideline" how to proceed in training herding dog. The reader will find in the publication of recommendations on how to navigate in the selection of a puppy, then in individual developmental stages of the dog, focus on what forms of dog training with regard to work, either in the herd, and the normal, classical competitions in herding sheep jumping. Equestrian competitions have their own characteristics, motivational appeal and therefore are likely to gain increasing popularity among breeders and popularity with audiences. These competitions are easier organizovatelné, compared to "herding competitions in classical control sheepdogs," in which competition would be at the disposal of at least two 200-balanced routine herd of sheep. This requirement is not with us at present hardly feasible. Equestrian competition is to be organized in playgrounds, předvádištích, exhibitions, limited open spaces with a small group of sheep or other livestock.
Our breeders and dog lovers gets into the hands of a very valuable practical tool. Specialist knowledge to the author Ing. LOUČKY R., MD. is based on the fact that the breeding dogs since systematically devoted to his childhood. Originally bred long-haired collie, the Czech mountain dogs, and since 1993 Border Collie. He was one of the first breeders of Border Collies in our country and the very first who started the breed used for herding sheep. He became an avid promoter of this breed. He is credited with organizing competitions in the recovery operation herding dogs. Keeps records of all tests performed in herding with us and represent our country at the FCI International Commission in Brussels. He is chairman of the Ground Jury Cynologic unity CR for herding. His erudition is also used in professional activities and work in Schoko in the country.
I am convinced that in the book "Herding dog - training handbook" will find every farmer, especially herding dogs, many ideas and helpful hints for his work with the dog and its training. I wish a lot of breeding success and joy in training herding dogs, which is unthinkable without the work of flocks of sheep.
